Eric Crighton (1968-2024)

Principal Investigator

The PEHE Collaboration is the result of the visionary leadership of Eric Crighton (PhD), who was a Full Professor in the Department of Geography, Environment and Geomatics at the University of Ottawa, Co-Director of the Environment, Community and Health (ECoH) Lab, and Senior Scientist at the Institute of Clinical Evaluative Sciences (ICES).  The work of the PEHE Collaboration continues in his memory.

Graeme N. Smith (MD, PhD, FRCSC) is the Department Head of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, and Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Anatomy & Cell Biology and Imaging at Queen's University in Kingston.


Erica Phipps

Co-Lead

Erica Phipps (MPH, PhD) is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Geography, Environment and Geomatics at the University of Ottawa, and Executive Director of the Canadian Partnership for Children’s Health and Environment (CPCHE), a national collaboration of organizations that work together to advance children’s environmental health protection.


Rukhsana Ahmed

Rukhsana Ahmed (PhD) is Associate Professor and Chair, Department of Communication, and Research Associate, the Center for the Elimination of Minority Health Disparities, at the University at Albany, State University of New York.  


Lesley Brennan

Lesley Brennan (PhD, MPH) is the Program Coordinator at the Children’s Environmental Health Clinic (ChEHC) in Edmonton, Alberta. ChEHC is a WHO Collaborating Centre in Child Health and the Environment and the only program of its kind in Canada.


Chris Brown

Jocelynn Cook

Jocelynn Cook (PhD) is the Chief Scientific Officer for the Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Canada (SOGC).  Dr. Cook has a PhD in Reproductive Physiology from the Medical University of South Carolina.


Jeff Masuda

Jeff Masuda (PhD) is a Professor in the School of Public Health and Social Policy at the University of Victoria and Director of the Centre for Environmental Health Equity.


Alvaro Osornio-Vargas

Karen Phillips

Co-Lead

Karen Phillips (PhD) is an Associate Professor, Director of the School of Interdisciplinary Health Sciences, Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Ottawa. Dr. Phillips obtained her doctorate in physiology, specializing in oocyte maturation, molecular events at fertilization and early embryo development.

 

 

Marg Sanborn

Marg Sanborn (MD, CCFP, FCFP) is a rural family physician with a special interest in environmental health. She is a past member and past Chair of the International Joint Commission’s Health Professionals Advisory Board on Human Health and Environment, and a past member and past Chair of the OCFP’s Environmental Health Committee.
